The-sinking EDM is a method of spark erosion.
An electrode generates sparks on the workpiece to be processed. The electrode has the negative shape of the workpiece surface to be created. So-called blind holes can also be created, or if during wire erosion it is not possible to start at the edge, a starting hole can be created with the help of sinker EDM. If the tool is guided in xy-direction, paths can be realized or undercuts can be made.
